Photojournalism: Final

Should News Papers show violent images of Iraq? I would have to say no because to the general public I feel it would bring a fear and doubt into peoples lives. A Lot of people right now are afraid of what is going on in Iraq. If one wrong picture is publish it could cause more unsertanty to those who dont have loved ones their. I feel like news papers should publish letters from souldiers say how much the people love them and are sleeping good at night knowing the souldiers are their to protect them. I Violence in Iraq is compelling and It does tell a storie but put it out on the web or in a book or magizine so it is disclosed. I myself would love to know more about what kind of good is happening their but the publication of a photograph of a souldier pointing his gun in the wrong direction or even killing an Iraqi would not tell you what happened before that action was taken or what kind of threat was made agianst that souldier. I have the oppinion that if edited we should show images from iraq but if they are not carfily chosen their could be a scare to the general population that we sent our own army to exterminate the iraqi people.

Should the photographer and the editor be seperate people? I have taken hundreds of photos of one car crash and looked at them all saying each and everyone could depict what happened here today. Knowing that being attatched to my photography I would say YES they should be seperate people just in the fact that a photography may wont to tell one story but the editor and the news paper may want to go a different way with the subject at hand. This is very common and to be a good photographer you should try at your very best to be open or at least shoot multiple points of view. This will alow the story to be told in different terms and opinions.

Given the power and contrast of black and white images, what argument is made that readers prefer color? When you open up a news paper all you see is black and white text and adds. I feel like color images bring more to the story. showing you what you would have seen (every color, every detail) had you actually been there yourself. I do enjoy the emotion and contrast that a black and white photograph can give. Its just to hard to make the desission if it is right for the situation or not. If you make a mistake like that you could offend someone or portray the story the wrong way leading the readers away from the main subject of the previous days events.

Discuss the photojournalistic ethics of honesty, decency and relevance. To be honest in photography is hard enough as you roll up on a story you can point and crop and manipulate the sene anyway you feel like. Being honost in your photography will help tell the corect story. It will let your views understand that you are there to bring them the truth not a story you devised on the spot. Being honest is a way of life and I feel like people want to see the honest truth of a story.........To know when to say when is always going to be a difficult dessision. As a photographer everthing we view is a story no mater how horrible. Have the courage to say this story is better off untold might be a story in itself. Showing the audience that it is a tromendous story but not a story you can tell in such a public maner will help people respect News more. We are labeled as an explotation of the truth. Is that what we want to be indecent?...... Dishonest?

For My photo I chose this one of the Snow Canyon Swim Team because it shows emotion. Team spirit is always fun to shoot because it can be expressed in so many different ways. This photo shows a bunch of dedicated kids that shaved there intire bodies to only be milliseconds faster then their previous races. The contrast in this photo is different in that same sence. In that the kids are for the majority very white. The lockers behind them broght good contrast in color and vector. I have had a nuber of students in the class say they like the vector the locker give to this photo and the high angle incompasing all the participants of the group huddle. That is why I chose this Photo.
This Next image I love because I enjoy sports alot and being able to capture the motion and intensity of the moment. I know you are unable to see her face but I appriciat the shot because of the strangth and the form she is displaying as she grasefully flys threw the air. The contrast in this photo along with all the rest of Adams work is finominal. The way her legs and even the black outfit she is wearing are in contrast with the black background. I love the perfect rigedness. Both legs and feet pointing the the direction the the bar anticipating the catch. I love the use of thirds in this photo She is almost perfectly possition on the uper third of the photo with the bar and the audience at the lower third giving context and depth to her performance. I aplod Adam for his fantastic work. It is truely inspiring. ps I still envy his lens. Pss I know this last part is late but I was called into work unexpected I hope I am not penilized to much for it.

Evaluation Posters

The Photo of a childs footprint will not only make you think of an infent but make you wonder why it is there why it is on a poster infront of your face. Learning that the UN is trying to help children's morality is not only going to have an Affective response on you but a Psychomotor response to do your part in making the world's children safe and protected.
I Really like this poster because It shows the seriousness of suicide and the willingness of otheres to help. The shape of the hand courser in the berral of the gun representing help via the internet has an Affective emotion to it. It makes me feel like I can get help or provide help to someone I love just by using my courser at home to log on and learn.
This photo to me is slightly to animated with the extra suns and clouds I feel it detracts from the Affectiveness of this poster. I feel it represents the subject with the charcoaled ground and tree and the bird sitting on what was once his home. From a Psychomotor stand point I would be compelled to help or donate in anyway I could because of the sadness in this poster. We dont want to see tragedy so we do what we can to help prevent of restore what is lost.

Car Logo Evaluation

Looking at a mini for the first time you think compact and fuel efficiant not BMW sports car. The mini's logo shows wings with a bold sans serif font. The wings in the logo may throw you of because something so small wouldnt strike you to go fast. But the mini has a few tricks up its sleave when it comes to sports car lovers. Mini's logo is appealing because of its simple yet affective design of wings(speed)and MINI(compact) Representing there product perfectly.
Jeeps logo is a bold sans serif font Represtenting a strong and rugged durriable product. When you think of a jeep you think of a capable vehicle that will take you where you want to go. Jeep has been known for assisting in war by providing vehicles that can go to men in the field No matter the condisions. "My JEEP won a war, your honda mowed my lawn." Jeeps logo kept it simple and bold representing what they feel is there product. I think they captured it well.
Ferrari's logo has been a horse on its hind legs ever since I can remember and to me it has always signified power. A horse waiting to explode into a dead run. Ferrari has incorperated this into the design of all of there vehicles. Sleek sexy cars that pack a punch as soon as you step on the gas pedal. The font used in this logo is a serifs font. Showing detail and curviture to the lettering just like the design of all Ferrari's Cars. I think ferrari has chosen a great logo and font to represent the power and detail they put into their vehicles.
