Should the photographer and the editor be seperate people? I have taken hundreds of photos of one car crash and looked at them all saying each and everyone could depict what happened here today. Knowing that being attatched to my photography I would say YES they should be seperate people just in the fact that a photography may wont to tell one story but the editor and the news paper may want to go a different way with the subject at hand. This is very common and to be a good photographer you should try at your very best to be open or at least shoot multiple points of view. This will alow the story to be told in different terms and opinions.
Given the power and contrast of black and white images, what argument is made that readers prefer color? When you open up a news paper all you see is black and white text and adds. I feel like color images bring more to the story. showing you what you would have seen (every color, every detail) had you actually been there yourself. I do enjoy the emotion and contrast that a black and white photograph can give. Its just to hard to make the desission if it is right for the situation or not. If you make a mistake like that you could offend someone or portray the story the wrong way leading the readers away from the main subject of the previous days events.
Discuss the photojournalistic ethics of honesty, decency and relevance. To be honest in photography is hard enough as you roll up on a story you can point and crop and manipulate the sene anyway you feel like. Being honost in your photography will help tell the corect story. It will let your views understand that you are there to bring them the truth not a story you devised on the spot. Being honest is a way of life and I feel like people want to see the honest truth of a story.........To know when to say when is always going to be a difficult dessision. As a photographer everthing we view is a story no mater how horrible. Have the courage to say this story is better off untold might be a story in itself. Showing the audience that it is a tromendous story but not a story you can tell in such a public maner will help people respect News more. We are labeled as an explotation of the truth. Is that what we want to be indecent?...... Dishonest?
For My photo I chose this one of the Snow Canyon Swim Team because it shows emotion. Team spirit is always fun to shoot because it can be expressed in so many different ways. This photo shows a bunch of dedicated kids that shaved there intire bodies to only be milliseconds faster then their previous races. The contrast in this photo is different in that same sence. In that the kids are for the majority very white. The lockers behind them broght good contrast in color and vector. I have had a nuber of students in the class say they like the vector the locker give to this photo and the high angle incompasing all the participants of the group huddle. That is why I chose this Photo.
This Next image I love because I enjoy sports alot and being able to capture the motion and intensity of the moment. I know you are unable to see her face but I appriciat the shot because of the strangth and the form she is displaying as she grasefully flys threw the air. The contrast in this photo along with all the rest of Adams work is finominal. The way her legs and even the black outfit she is wearing are in contrast with the black background. I love the perfect rigedness. Both legs and feet pointing the the direction the the bar anticipating the catch. I love the use of thirds in this photo She is almost perfectly possition on the uper third of the photo with the bar and the audience at the lower third giving context and depth to her performance. I aplod Adam for his fantastic work. It is truely inspiring. ps I still envy his lens. Pss I know this last part is late but I was called into work unexpected I hope I am not penilized to much for it.
